On hand for the interview, Chief Justice Elliott "Spike" Maynard is also asked about allegations of a federal inquiry into his Riviera Rendezvous with longtime pal and Massey Energy chief executive Don Blankenship.

• The Gazette also trumpets the move by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to add Anne Barth to its list of candidates that can expect aid from its "Red to Blue" program. This, to the chagrin of Barth's two Democratic primary opponents.
