Quote of the Day

"We're not graduating robots. Sure, there are some Communist countries, maybe North Korea, where they make students go longer. But we're talking about overall quality of life."

-- Delegate Brady Paxton, D-Putnam, on the House Education Committee's approach to Gov. Joe Manchin's school calendar legislation, as reported by The Associated Press.

Brady Paxton - spoken like a true genius.

So what Mr. Paxton is saying is that he doesn't care if North Korean kids are smarter than WV's, but it's more important for ours to have more time to play XBox and Wii to enhance their quality of life.

Genius, Pure Genius

What makes 180 days the magic number?

Regardless of how many days are required, the last two weeks of school are nothing but screwing off.
Movies, parties,swimming, etc.

Our kids are going to be just as dumb going 170 days or 270 days.
It's not the days, it's the curriculum.

Unless we're willing to pony up and pay teachers to work year round, Why don't they just start school the day after Labor Day and end it the Friday before Memorial Day?
