Byrd Endorses Obama

A clear sign that Byrd's "handlers" are now in complete control of him.

Well, he could retire and give the world either "Senator Rahall" or "Senator Tomblin."

If he retired, I suspect Manchin would appoint someone he has control over as a place holder until he can run to fill the slot after his second term as governor. He's said that he won't appoint himself. Gayle perhaps? Garrison may be looking for a new job and he'd be no threat to Manchin when the primary comes around?

It would be the perfect time to appoint Gayle...it would get her out of town & free him up to prowl around a little more freely.
